The purpose of the lab is to identify the structures of the bones, muscles, and connective tissues. Students will be able to compare the wing of a bird to a human arm.
Students will be able to identify the major muscle groups in the human body. Students will be able to identify the major bones in the human body. Students will learn about the structure and function of the muscular and skeletal systems.
Students will be able to make observations to classify the specimen according to physical characteristics and determine the specimen's phylum. Students will learn the physical characteristics that defines an animal phylum. Information learned in this lesson will be used for the classification round robin activity. After the test, students will complete the imaginary animal activity. Students will use the chromebooks and follow the activity lesson. Students will go to Switch Zoo and create an imaginary animal. Students will then create a story about the imaginary animal, highlighting adaptations that are important for survival in the environment. The objective of the lesson is to use knowledge about environments and beneficial adaptations that will enable the success of that species in that environment. Students are to use English to describe the environment and the adaptations. The exam is a comprehensive exam on the topic of Evolution. The test includes the information about Darwin, Natural Selection, Survival of the Fittest, DNA and Genes, Adaptations, Genetic Drift, Patterns of Evolution and Evidence of Evolution.
